Short summary in Dutch (NL)
Welcome to: The Liminal Space. ☺️ My online community for the space of the in-between.
I’ll briefly introduce you to the concept of the liminal from an anthropological perspective. Then I’ll invite you to the community: what to expect and what content will be shared here.
But first of all, for who is this?
This is for those who seek. Those who try to navigate life around change, transformation and growth. Because in the journey, we have to let go before we can invite something new. It’s for those who feel undefined, unclear or in the space of not-knowing. It’s for the souls who feel their potential is out there but still out of reach. It’s for the thinkers, the philosophers and artists. For those who simply feel they don’t truly belong yet, and missing out on a feeling of home.
If you feel the call to this space, then… welcome home in The Liminal Space ❤️
What is The Liminal Space about?
Let me first explain what the ‘liminal’ is about. The liminal is a concept from the anthropological and ritual studies.
The ‘liminal’ comes from the Latin limen, meaning “threshold.” In rites of passage (Turner, 1969), the liminal is the in-between phase: no longer what you were, not yet what you are becoming.
The Liminal Space functions as a house of (temporary) homecoming in these transitions. There’s always a separation, then a liminal period followed up by integration. To be in the liminal means you’re on your way.
In our current society, it is so difficult to choose and commit to one life, one direction, one place. Change and opportunity is everywhere and it can feel challenging to slow down, connect and accept where you currently are. The Liminal Space is a community for this process. Here, you can really be in the liminal, from a space of consciousness, loving kindness and acceptance.
If you find it hard to truly commit, then in this community you can just come to it.
So what to expect here?
I create (video) content on my Instagram and I write articles by my publisher name ‘The Liminal Space.’
The liminal can be found in topics I create my content around:
the bridge between worlds of art, language and aesthetics and the meaning of life
the ever cyclic movement of being on your way
multilingual content because I’m in between languages (NL/EN)
homecoming and belonging in the not-knowing
the undefined feeling in change and transformation
the ritual space between you and life as a dance, an exchange of silent communication
the magic space between the physical and the spiritual
My content is is here to remind you that you’re not alone in the liminal. Through articles and videos, I give words to the vague experience of being alive — feeling undefined, in transition, or a little lost. As I love to travel in any way, the stories expand to collective life questions. Hopefully, you’ll find words with me to give existence to the liminal.
Something about me
I’ve always been a seeker, since I was a little girl. I was asking questions, reflecting on philosophy and trying to understand what meaning of life truly was.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always put my attention to the silent moment of in-betweens. My birthday was not just my birthday, but a ritual to reflect on what the past year has offered and to write some intentions for the new one. The death of a small insect in the garden had to be taken care of: a funeral, some words and simply awareness to that event of change. Something transformed and I could feel the space of that before and after. It is a magical space where time feels different, almost sacred.
Art and literature have always been the bridges to my inspiration and connection to life. I can feel connection to life, past and present, so deeply. Put me in a museum and I’ll walk out as a new person. The liminal is everywhere. It is a place or a space that touches something inside of me, that literally transforms my meaning in that moment. I feel as if I am dancing with life in such moments. As if life reaches me something and when I take it, it opens up a space of delightful meaning, a sense of belonging to something bigger.
For this, I am always on the lookout for such places. I call them ‘portals’. And there’s many of them. A book can be a portal, just as a moment of gratitude, a small meditation or a walk. It’s the rituals for me that provide meaning to the unknown.
Because one thing more present then this magical space between me and life, is the question: what’s next? Where’s home? Step by step I’m navigating myself through life, big dreams resting on my shoulders. It’s challenging for me to accept: this is it. I am so full of inspiration and I wish to go, taste, do and create everything! And that gives me the feeling of living temporarily in the choices that I make, always with the door open to more. Because I can never fully choose one direction and say: YES!
But what I cán yes ‘YES’ to, is the liminal.
That’s why I created The Liminal Space. It is the community I am looking for myself.
*Currently this is still growing. In the future I hope to create much more actual rituals for you, to sit and be together in the space of not-knowing. But that is still ripening. After all, I am in the liminal too :)
I invite you
Do you feel lost sometimes? Do you feel like in-between chapters? Does it feel challenging to know how to continue, yet having many dreams? You’re seeking for a place, a space, an opportunity that really feels like ‘home’? Can you relate to the ever returning question of: I don’t know…what’s next?
Then The Liminal Space is for you ❤

De kortere versie in het Nederlands
Welkom in The Liminal Space
Waar gaat The Liminal Space over?
Over mij

The only constant is change, and yes life is distracting. Especially in these times. That is why I think this becoming community could help and bring together a lot of people! Looking forward to reading more about your journey and what you've learned.🙏
